Because our Fitness Consultants excel at personal program design and accountability, they can keep you progressing towards your goals. Working one-on-one in our private studios, they make small, incremental changes that keep you engaged, inspired and prevent you from hitting a plateau.

ANYONE CAN PRESCRIBE A WORKOUT OR NUTRITION REGIMEN, FOLLOWING IT IS THE DIFFICULT PART.

As your coach, mentor and biggest fan, our Fitness Consultants are there to provide accountability, encouragement, and support every step of the way. We understand that compliance with new habit formations when you're out of the gym can make or break results from all the hard work you do while in the gym. This is exactly why are coaches are expected to do more than just provide workouts. The support network you choose matters.

We believe personal trainers can be found at most health clubs, but a Professional Fitness Coach and Consultant holds themselves to a much higher standard. Our coaches hold degrees or nationally accredited certifications as well as undergo a rigorous in-house training program where they become experts at helping people achieve success through elite level coaching. WHAT TO EXPECT

Here’s what you can expect when considering starting a One On One Personal Training Program at Shaping Concepts.

During your initial visit with us you’ll learn a lot about the action steps and changes that would be needed to see the results you desire. As the first step in our process we'll cover the following during the consultation:

  • Discuss your primary objectives and goals 
  • Explain the philosophies behind our methods of delivering coaching and ways in which it's available
  • Discuss your current and past history of health, physical activity, injuries, medical conditions, etc
  • Discuss your availability for exercise, individual needs, challenges you feel need addressed, etc.
  • Complete a body composition assessment with the InBody 520
  • Provide you with an expectation on the necessary time required to achieve your objectives
  • Assess your overall nutrition and determine starting points for coaching and habit formation targets
  • Advise you on whether or not we feel we could help you with our services, and if not a good fit provide you with recommendations and referrals to those who could

After your initial consultation and planning session regardless of whether you're starting a program or continuing on a trial, the next appointment is where we'll be completing appropriate fitness and movement pattern assessments.

We always start with at least a movement pattern assessment prior to prescribing exercises as this part is integral with the personalization in our program design.

Following the completion of the assessments we'll review the findings with you.

Finally, after the first session we’ll help you schedule your next appointment (initial full workout) based on your availability and also do the following:

1. Review your fitness plan summary with our entire team of experts.

2. Create a Fitness Report, a baseline of how we'll be assessing progress and review with you.

3. Determine your primary and secondary coaches who will be teaming up to provide your instruction and accountability.

4. Your team will collaborate on building your customized workout program design taking into consideration all the information gathered during the consultation and assessment sessions.

5. Your team will begin setting up action plans for your coaching based on your individual needs and their specialties (nutrition, corrective exercise, etc).

TRAINING SESSIONS
To produce results, we'll set a target on the number of training sessions to complete each week (regardless of where they're performed) and time required for each. Each in-house personal training session changes through out the week to address specific fitness goals and muscle groups.  Additionally, your workouts will regularly change and be adjusted based on ongoing fitness assessments and results measurement.  This is key to keeping the body physiologically adapting to change helping you avoid the dreaded plateaus and  to keep you psychological motivated as well!  Through the use of technology, we also help you plan and track your fitness regimen when you are away from our gym.

NUTRITION
Exercise alone can only produce so many results. To help you reach your goals faster and more efficiently, we include nutrition coaching in all of our premium personal training packages. 

PROGRESS & GOAL REVIEW
Every 2-4 weeks, you’ll meet with a coach on your team to review your progress and goal tracking. We use several means of assessing progress based on your primary objectives. If necessary, your diet coaching and/or workout program design will be adjusted as needed to address adaptations. This element of accountability, measurement and refinement of our customized fitness program design is unique to the Shaping Concepts philosophy.

Our one-on-one personal training sessions vary between $38-$49 per session depending on the package selected to best fit your wants and needs. We'll show you the differences and make recommendations during our initial consultation for your consideration.

MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT 

WE KNOW HOW TO IDENTIFY FITNESS & CORRECTIVE EXERCISE NEEDS AND HOW TO EFFICIENTLY BRING ABOUT THE DESIRED RESULTS AND BENEFITS 

As standard protocol we perform a (FMS) functional movement screen or movement pattern assessment prior to prescribing exercise to our clients. This assessment process helps us establish starting points for exercise prescription based on the stability, mobility, and strength demonstrated with various movements. It also helps us to identify any asymmetry, muscular imbalances, or weaknesses that we can address with your training protocol.

WHY IS THIS ASSESSMENT SO IMPORTANT?

It’s simple, anyone can create a workout.  Especially, with the resources available online today.  However, the human body is not like an automobile or some other piece of machinery. You can’t just jump on the web and find “repair instructions” and get the outcome you want.  The human body is very unique from one person to another, so naturally a one-size fits all exercise program will only get average results - if that. In fact, an unqualified personal trainer could do more damage than good. The key to a truly personalized program is obtaining information on individual needs and building the routine around those needs.

CUSTOM PLANNING

Once we know what your wants and individual needs are, we put together a exercise plan that is guaranteed to achieve your goal.

After we complete the consultation and assessments, we develop a customized plan based on our findings.  Regardless of your specific goals we develop our programs to improve how your body functions and decrease the likelihood of injuries. We do this by designing your exercise program to address muscle imbalances, whether it’s an imbalance of strength, mobility or postural.  Simultaneously, we make sure to select the right exercises, modalities, sets, reps, tempo’s and rest periods to get the exact physiological responses we want to achieve your goals. 

RESEARCH

We take pride in staying at the cutting edge of the latest science regarding health, exercise science, and nutrition.  Our coaches stay up to date on the latest research conducted by the National Strength and Conditioning Associations (NSCA) and we regularly look for opportunities to partner with local colleges and universities to conduct new research.  Additionally, our staff is required to complete continuing education credits to maintain their certifications either through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, American Council on Exercise, NSCA, or American College of Sports Medicine.

PROFESSIONAL COACHING

As coaches we ensure that each exercise is done properly. We avoid injuries and maximize the benefit of each motion.  We also ensure that you do the right amount of each exercise; too little won’t bring about change, and too much will slow down your rate of improvement.

According to a study conducted by Virginia Polytech University, when you add weekly accountability to an exercise program, you are increasing the likelihood of sticking to your exercise program by 2200%!  There is no better form of accountability than having a trained Shaping Concepts Coach on your schedule each week and waiting for you with a personalized plan designed for your success.  You see, a personal coach is the real secret to your success and finally getting the results you’ve always wanted!

RESULTS & PROGRESS MEASUREMENT

Every (4) weeks we conduct a goal evaluation session and review your body composition and/or performance reports that will show your progress relative to your goal.  During this review, we set new targets as needed along with making any adjustments to the plan in order to improve results. 

We also implement in-session progress measurements with things like heart rate, endurance, work capacity, strength improvements, etc.  This immediate feedback allows the client to see their progress from previous workouts and also creates motivation to achieve new levels of performance in each session.
