The team of fitness professionals at Shaping Concepts are not your typical "personal trainers." In fact, I refer to them as "fitness professional" for a very good reason.

Shaping Concepts is committed to only employing individuals that have been certified by nationally accredited organizations or those who have received degrees in areas like athletic training, exercise science, and physiology.

Our staff members are truly unique not only in their level of education but also in their willingness to work together as a group sharing unselfishly of their knowledge and experience. The result is an unparalled group of fitness professionals who help one another in their respective areas of expertise.

Mt. Pleasant Studio
Shane Doll

Shane is a certified personal trainer, fitness expert, author, and founder of Shaping Concepts Fitness Training Studios. He serves as company President and CEO. Shane specializes in helping people with busy lifestyles transform their bodies with his unique 30 minute personal fitness programs. His passion for fitness comes from life long athletics including NCAA Division I collegiate football at Bowling Green State University.

Shane is certified both as a personal trainer and a strength and conditioning specialist with the NSCA. He has also received certifications from NDEITA and the Cooper Institute. He has spent the last 10 years researching effective weight management and fitness routines which lead to his creation of Shaping Concepts' signature body transformation program, The Trim In 12. The success of his unique personal fitness programs has helped the company grow to three locations with over 200 active clients since 2004. Shane’s accomplishments as a fitness professional was recently recognized by Personal Fitness Professional magazine.

Andrew Duffy

Andrew is a certified athletic trainer with NATA and holds a double major with a BS in Health Science and Athletic Training from Guilford College. He specializes in rehabilitation and sports performance training. Andrew has over eight years experience as an athletic trainer and three years as a personal trainer. His experience as an athletic trainer includes a tenure with the Bridgeport Bluefish, a professional minor league baseball team in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Andrew was also a standout NCAA baseball player himself while at Guilford College.

Andrew is a dedicated professional and contributes unselfishly to the development of our organization. He was recently named the Studio Director for our Mt. Pleasant location.

Mandy McDonald

Mandy is a women’s fitness and nutrition specialist along with being Vice President and co-founder of Shaping Concepts. Her friendly personality and caring attitude help make up the Shaping Concepts difference. Her true passion is helping women look and feel their absolute best. Mandy has helped Shaping Concepts become a leader in personal fitness training in the Charleston area due to her commitment to making each and every client feel appreciated and welcome to the family. She has over 15 years experience in the health and beauty industry formerly working in spas and salons. Mandy is originally from Columbia, SC where she attended the University of South Carolina.

Lauren Reinert

Lauren received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and is currently completing her Masters Degree from California University of Pennsylvania. She is a certified personal trainer through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and is currently completing her certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Lauren is an exceptional personal trainer and has a great deal of enthusiasm and knowledge to share with her clients. The results her clients receive speak for themselves. We are very fortunate to have her on our Mt. Pleasant team. She enjoys working with clients of all ages and fitness levels but specializes in body transformation for women. She is highly committed to each and every client and has a sincere interest in seeing they reach their goals.

William Graham

William is a certified personal trainer with the nationally accredited ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine). He is truly passionate about helping others reach their weight loss and fitness goals. William’s clients note his excellent motivational skills and caring attitude. He recently relocated here from Pittsburgh, Pa and is quickly making a name for himself in the Charleston area. William graduated with a BS in Exercise and Rehabilitative Sciences from Slippery Rock University. He has experience training clients of all ages and specializes in Corporate Wellness. A fitness enthusiast himself, William recently placed 3rd in the Men’s Novice Division at the 2006 Iron City Classic Natural Bodybuilding Classic.

Shawn Thomas

Shawn is a USAW certified trainer and sports performance coach. Originally from North Augusta, SC he received his BS in Kinesiology & Exercise Science from Charleston Southern University. Shawn excels in motivating his clients to reach their potential with commitment and a dedicated work ethic. It was this same philosophy that helped him become a four year letter winner in football at CSU including a 2005 Big South Conference Championship. Shawn was also a two year letter winner in track and field while at CSU. He brings with him strong character traits of leadership, commitment, and integrity to Shaping Concepts. We are proud to have him as part of our team and look forward to seeing him make his mark in the local community as a fitness & sports performance coach.

Dan Beirne

Dan is a certified fitness trainer through the renowned Cooper Institute in Dallas TX and has served over 11 years in the US military. His experience and vigorous training while deployed in Operation Enduring Freedom, brings a new style of training to Shaping Concepts. He benefits clients by challenging their minds and physical well being for a total life improvement. Dan believes that being prepared for the unknown is the key to survival in today's challenging world. He is a Level I certified CrossFit trainer and a Level I certified endurance / POSE Running instructor. His skills bring a new style of education to the public on physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Dan is a decorated combat veteran and a graduate of Charleston Southern University. He is also currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Security Management. His life experiences and ability to work with people from all walks of life makes him a very significant asset to our organization and to our clients. Dan is a role model for how to be a team player and truly promotes the warrior's ethos.

Kylie Adams

Kylie is originally from North Carolina and received her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science from UNC-Chapel Hill and her Masters in Exercise Science from the University of South Carolina. She is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Kylie has a tremendous passion for health and fitness and loves the feeling and energy that being active and in good physical health provides and enjoys sharing it with others. Kylie has experience working with individuals of all ages and fitness levels and thoroughly enjoys watching her clients achieve their goals and lead a better quality of life.

James Smeltzer

James is a certified personal trainer through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) with over 6 years of experience. He is originally from Ohio where he received his BS from The University of Findlay in PE/Strength & Conditioning. James is currently pursuing his Master's in Exercise Science at The Citadel. He enjoys helping his clients push through any obstacles and succeed with reaching their fitness and weight loss goals. James is extremely dedicated, passionate and sincerely cares about seeing each an every one of his clients improve their quality of life. He has worked with a wide range of clients of all ages and is very knowledgeable in program design for people of any fitness level. James was a two-sport athlete in college (wrestling & football) and currently trains and competes in jiu jitsu.

Eric Nelson

Eric is a former Training Director for Crunch Fitness in NY and has over 10 years expereince as an NASM certified trainer. He is a 2x I.P.F. (International Powerlifting Federation) World powerlifting champion and has held 4 world records in multiple weight classes. He also has numerous USPF (United States Powerlifting Federation) championships. Eric went to college on a track and field scholorship and graduated from Salisbury University in MD. Eric is an active Rugby player having played with the Village Lions Rugby Club in NYC and the Sin City Irish in Las Vegas.

Josh Hartzell

Josh is originally from Charleston South Carolina and spent 6 years in Air Force as a security forces law enforcement officer and trainer. He has been certified as a Physical Fitness Specialist through the highly acclaimed Kenneth Cooper Institute in Dallas, Texas as well as receiving the Biomechanics of Resistance Training Certification. While in the Air Force, Josh served as the lead fitness and training instructor for special tactics units. His passion as a fitness professional is to see and hear people talk about the positive changes in their lives. He has extraordinary talent and ability in helping his clients push themselves to not only achieve their goals but exceed them. Accomplishments: 1st place in the 8th annual January Military Wide Dover AFB Korean Ruck March. Josh finished the 6.2 mile run with a 30 pound ruck and full gear in 57:53 which is currently still a base record. Josh is currently pursuing a degree in Sports and Nutrition as well as completing two certifications through AFPA (American Fitness Professionals and Associates) as a sports conditioning specialist and nutrition and wellness consultant.

Amy Villa-Nelson

Amy Villa-Nelson is an IFBB Pro Fitness Athlete and fitness model. She is certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Amy is also the 2006 NPC Overall National Fitness Champion. She has been featured in magazines such as Flex, Oxygen along with Muscle and Fitness and Muscle and Fitness Hers where each featured 2 of her personal training programs. Amy welcomes anybody who is willing and ready to go the distance. Her clients say that she is tough but the results are she gets are the most rewarding. She won't let you get by without the proper nutrition either. You can't have one without the other. So whether you're an athlete or you have the heart and drive of an athlete, Amy is here and dedicated to getting you above and beyond!

Bluffton Studio

Chad Cannon

Chad is a certified personal trainer, fitness expert, author, speaker and Studio Director at our Bluffton location. He earned his personal training certification through AFPA, The American Fitness Professionals and Associates. Chad’s specialties are in Post-Rehabilitation and Sports Performance Training. He has extensive experience as a trainer with over 15 years in the industry. He was honored in June 2004 by being named one of the top 100 personal trainers in the country by the American Association of Personal Trainers. Chad also has a decorated athletic career as a standout NCAA sprinter and long jumper at the University of Rio Grande in Ohio where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology.

Chad became part of the Shaping Concepts team in December 2005. He is truly a fitness professional and a leader in his local community. He demonstrates a genuine caring attitude towards each and every one of his clients. Widely recognized as one of the leading fitness experts in Bluffton you will often see his articles featured in the Bluffton Today, Costal Sports & Wellness, and other local publications. Chad is very active in his community formerly serving as the Head JV Girls Basketball Coach and the Boys and Girls Track and Cross Country Coach at Bluffton High School. He has also recently started "Chad's Kid's" to help combat childhood and adolescent obesity in his community.

George Dixon

George is one of our newest additions to the Bluffton team. He has extensive background working with clients of all ages and fitness levels and is highly respected in the Hilton Head/ Bluffton areas as a leading fitness professional. Certified as a personal trainer and fitness instructor through AFPA, George’s specialty is physical rehabilitation and athlete training. He has over 25 years of experience as a wrestling competitor, coach and official. George is a former state champion wrestler and has coached several state champions during his tenure. George brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our family. He is an exceptional motivator and has a great rapport with his clients.

Laura Corbito

Laura received her B.A in Exercise Science from Hanover College. She comes from Indiana with experience working as a personal trainer as well as a corporate fitness trainer. Laura has worked with individuals of all ages and fitness levels, and has helped train marathoners, triathletes, and the general population seeking weight loss. Laura brings a strong passion for health and wellness. She is also a certified massage therapist only adding to her wellness approach to life. Laura leads by example, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and encouraging others to improve their quality of life by proper education on the matter. Laura develops strong relationships with her clients and truly devotes attention to their specific needs and goals, she will never let you give up or quit.

Alvin Polite

Alvin is a certified personal trainer with nationally accredited NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine). He is a native of the low country area and is highly respected by constituents in the community. Eight years ago Alvin embarked on a commitment to a lifestyle change which incorporated conditioning his own body to obtain optimal health and wellness. He now wishes to extend the same desire for health and wellness out to his community. He brings integrity, compassion, and an unsurpassed work ethic to the Shaping Concepts family. Alvin is dedicated to seeing that each and every one of his clients reach their fitness goals from his philosophy that with hard work and commitment anyone can achieve his or her nutritional and fitness goals.

Myrtle Beach Studio

Brandon Munn

Brandon is a certified personal trainer and fitness professional who serves as the Studio Director in Myrtle Beach. He completed over 500 hours of training at the nationally recognized and accredited Personal Training Institute in Orlando, FL before joining the Shaping Concepts team. Brandon has been training for six years with extensive experience working with young athletes specializing in sports performance. Knowledgeable in all aspects of anatomy, kinesiology and exercise science, he enjoys working with clients of all ages and fitness levels. Brandon smiles when he talks about working with one special client that was ninety-five years young! He is truly passionate about helping others with fitness and his enthusiasm and genuine personality make him an exceptional personal trainer and coach. Brandon will be quickly making a name for himself in Myrtle Beach with his dedicated work ethic and willingness to help people. We look forward to watching him grow as a fitness professional.

Michael Mabe

Michael received his degree from Eastern Kentucky University majoring in Fitness and Wellness with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology. He is currently completing his personal training certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. While at East Tennessee State University, Michael competed as a collegiate athlete in football for the Buccaneers where he was a two year letterman. He is dedicated to helping people of all ages and fitness levels improve their health and wellness. Michael volunteers with the Special Olympics and has experience assisting individuals with disabilities in their fitness programs. He also enjoys working with competitive athletes and weekend warriors who want to improve their game. Michael’s genuine concern for others and motivating personality make him a natural fit on our Shaping Concepts team.
