Hi, this is Shane. I made this page to tell you a little more about the FREE no-obligations trial of my Charleston personal training program. Nobody likes to be “sold” on anything, myself included, so I built the risk-free trial into my programs so you could experience the Shaping Concepts difference for yourself before making a decision to work with one of our trainers..
I've always felt it was important that my business didn't incorporate things like long-term contracts or high pressure sales tactics. My philosophy is that if you provide a valuable service you just don’t need such tactics.
Bottom line is I'd like the opportunity to earn your business if you're interested in personal training. I'm sure you may have some questions and concerns about getting started. On this page you'll discover how my free trial works along with links to some additional pages with information to help you make an informed decision.
Here’s what happens when you sign up for your Charleston personal training trial
Your web-form request will be sent to my office and someone will contact you within 24 hours to set up a time for your initial consultation. Most of the time you’ll get a response back within a couple of hours depending on when your web-form request was submitted. If your request was received over the weekend you can expect a call first thing on Monday morning.
You can always contact the studio at 843-971-8665 if you’d like to directly set up your initial consultation. It’s important that I reiterate you won’t be required to submit a credit card or anything like that for your trial. There’s no fine print or special conditions.
Your initial consultation at Shaping Concepts
During your initial consultation, which usually takes 30-45 minutes, you’ll meet with myself, my partner Mandy McDonald or our studio director Andrew Duffy to discuss your wants, needs, and primary goals.
Look at it as a time for us to get to know more about you and what you’d like to accomplish. There’s no exercise or fitness testing with the initial consultation so you can be dressed in street clothes.

Once we have a good idea about your current situation and what you’re looking for we’ll discuss the various options we provide at Shaping Concepts to meet your needs and budget.
If weight loss is a primary goal you’ll also complete the Lean Code Profile questionnaires at this time. The information gathered from the interview and questionnaires will be used to provide you with recommendations on how to best proceed with a fitness and weight loss program.
This is just the first step and of course you’re under no obligation to use my services or commit to a personal training package.
Your first session with a Charleston personal trainer
Part two of my free trial is the scheduling of your fitness assessment and first session with one of our trainers.
We’ll work with you on coordinating a time that best fits with your schedule and match you up with a personal trainer we feel would line up with your wants and needs.
During the first workout session your trainer will complete a kinetic chain assessment to look for any muscle imbalances and choose the best exercises to meet your needs.

You’ll also have your body fat tested along with optional measurements and complete a series of physical fitness assessments. A “before” picture will also be taken if desired to use for progress evaluations. Although we like to take before pictures with our weight loss clients, this is totally optional on your part. The pictures are kept secure and your privacy is always protected.
Your trainer will discuss with you the specific game plan for your program at the conclusion of your first workout along with details on cardio training, stretching, and other recommendations.
Making sure there’s a good “client-trainer” fit
After your first workout I’ll personally welcome any feedback regarding how you feel with the fit between you and the trainer. The client-trainer fit is one of the most important factors for success in a personal fitness program. While we do our best to match you up where we think there would be a good fit, your feedback is used to help make the best selection.
One great thing about Shaping Concepts is the team mentality that is shared by our trainers. They understand the importance of a good “client-trainer” fit and realize it’s nothing personal if a change is made. You’ll find everyone to be extremely professional in this regard and can rest assured you won’t find anything awkward about requesting to try another trainer.
Just know that trainer changes are a frequent occurrence, especially in the beginning of our programs, and it’s simply part of the process to ensure there’s a good fit. Even the trainers appreciate this policy as it allows them to work with clients where they’re most likely to connect and ultimately deliver the best results.
Your second session with a Charleston personal trainer
The second session in part of your free trial will provide you with the opportunity to experience my 30 minute workout in its full entirety. With the assessments, measurements and other essential starting points completed this is the time to see just exactly what the 30 minute workout is all about.
At the end of your free trial you’ll have been able to see first hand what really makes up the Shaping Concepts difference. The extra attention and detail to personalizing your program, the ability to work with different trainers to ensure there’s a good fit, the friendly staff and non-intimidating feel of the studio, the high energy atmosphere with upbeat music, the motivation and words of encouragement from everyone, and the list goes on.
If you choose to continue with one of my Charleston personal training programs I’ll greatly appreciate your business and work to see you’re given nothing less than VIP service. If you don’t feel my programs are for you, for any reason, we’ll part ways as friends.
