Uncovering Hidden Fat Loss Obstacles – Part One

If you’re frustrated from not being able to lose fat no matter how much you exercise and diet I feel your pain. I’ve got good news though; there is a solution to get your body to eliminate unwanted body fat.

The trick is drilling down far enough to find out where the imbalance(s) are within your body. If you haven’t broken through a plateau yet it’s simply because you haven’t found the imbalance(s). Today’s post will be the first in a series of articles on how to identify and uncover what’s keeping you from losing fat.

Hidden Fat Loss Obstacle #1: Build Up Of Toxins & Metabolic Waste

Although most people typically start with diet and exercise changes when looking to lose weight, you should start from the inside-out by ensuring proper digestive system health and function.  An important thing to remember is fat is nothing more than fuel and stored energy for the body.

It has to be burned as a fuel in order to be removed. Fat is burned by your body through a process called lipolysis. This process like all others in your body is 100% controlled, carried out, and regulated by your hormonal systems. If you don’t have the correct hormonal balances you will not be able to burn fat no matter how much exercise you do.

You need to create an environment where fat can effectively be released and used as energy. This entails a serious of events that will incorporate several functions of your body. As an example, you’ll need to be able to assimilate nutrients and remove metabolic waste if you want to send the right hormonal signals for burning fat.

That’s why the digestion and elimination processes are so important. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had clients show difficulties with losing fat while eating “healthy” and doing adequate physical activity. Often times my conversation with a stuck client will often lead to discussion with digestion and elimination. While embarrassing for some people to talk about, it needs to be addressed.

I can tell you this right now; if you haven’t gone to the bathroom in several days you can pretty much cancel out any chances of your body sending the right hormonal signals for burning fat. This has to be one of the most overlooked areas in fat loss. You can’t just keep on piling up metabolic waste in your digestive tract and expect your endocrine system to function properly.

A build up of toxins and metabolic waste will reduce your ability to assimilate nutrients and slow down the functions of several vital organs including the liver. Did you know that your ability to metabolize fat efficiently is affected by the health and function of your liver?

The reality is your liver is the most important organ in the body for removing and eliminating toxins from the blood. When the liver gets overwhelmed with toxins all bodily functions will suffer.

Common symptoms of a build up of metabolic waste include;

- Fatigue and frequently having little energy
- Irregularity
- Skin rashes or acne
- Headaches
- Weight gain or inability to lose weight
- Suppressed immune system (getting colds, being sick frequently)
- Inflammation (pooch belly, bloated stomach area)
- Indigestion, heart burn, acid reflux and other digestive system issues

If you experience any of these symptoms I would strongly recommend you start your fat loss program or re-group on your current program by doing detoxification and cleanse.

Toxins come in many forms but most are derived from the food we eat and not environmental type pollution. While our parents and earlier generations consumed mostly whole foods without chemicals, pesticides, hormones, it’s a different world today.

You’ve got to put some work and planning into your diet now more than ever as the default food sources in this country are fast food or processed and refined foods.

Chemical restructuring processes like hydrogenation has led to unnatural forms of foods. An example would be “trans-fat” that has been shown to be even more harmful than saturated fat. The process of hydrogenation was intended to increase the shelf life of products like crackers, chips, cake mixes, cookies, etc.

While a lot of substances like hydrogenated fats and oils have passed FDA regulations the fact that these are “unnatural” forms of food should be warning enough. Remove them completely from your diet by cutting our processed and refined food. You’ll thank me later.

The bottom line is that with so many toxins being presented to our bodies we need to look at optimizing the health and function of the digestive system as priority number one if you want to lose fat effectively. It’s not a matter of whether or not you have any issues with your digestive system, but rather how severe are they.

Detoxification and cleansing may be completed in many forms but one of the easiest things to do is complete a natural herbal/fiber cleanse.

I recommend a product called Advocare Herbal Cleanse in conjunction with following a diet free from red meats, processed foods, yeast, sugar, sodas, fried foods, and alcohol during the detoxification.

Tomorrow, I’ll go into more detail on the imbalances that come from digestive system issues. Problems are not that simple to identify by solely looking at regularity with going to the bathroom as the only indicator of digestive system health.

You may be surprised to discover even healthy foods aren’t guaranteed to get assimilated and utilized by your body. It all depends on the health and function of your gastrointestinal tract. Stay tuned for more.
