Top 20 Fat Burning Cardio Exercises

When it comes to fat loss, not all cardio exercises are created equal. While using traditional cardio equipment like treadmills, elliptical trainers, indoor cycles, stairclimbers and the like work fine, there are some great interval training alternatives to choose from.

Bottom line is you must first work on building an aerobic base with low-moderate intensity cardio then progress to higher intensity burst or interval training for optimal results. The following list represents my top 20 favorite cardio exercises for burning fat.

1. Jump Rope (reps or time; 30 seconds to 1:00 minute bursts or intervals)

2. Sprinting (40-400 meter bursts or intervals)

3. Rowing (100-1000 meters)

4. Mountain Climbers (reps or time; 30 second bursts or intervals)

5. Mountain Jumpers (reps or time; 30 second bursts or intervals)

6. Burpees (reps or time; 30 second bursts or intervals)

7. Jumping Jacks (reps or time; 30 seconds to 3:00 minutes)

8. Hindu Squats (reps or time; 30 seconds to 1:00 minute bursts or intervals)

9. Jump Squats (reps or time; 30 second bursts or intervals)

10. Sand Bag Drags or Carries (distance or time; 30 second bursts or intervals)

11. Bear Crawl (distance or time)

12.  Tire Flip (reps, distance or time)

13. Tire Drag (distance or time)

14. Box Jumps (reps or time)

15. Running Stairs (reps or time)

16. Baseball Diamond Circuit (runs scored in set time)

17. Basketball Court Suicides (rounds or time)
