Flex Diet

I have been trying this new diet philosophy out while also cutting for my figure competition.  I first heard about this from watching video logs from Layne Norton on his website biolayne.com.  He is definitely someone you should follow on twitter, facebook, or Youtube if you are interested in nutrition among other topics.

So like I said I have been trying to incorporate this into my food log.  After watching the video log and reading the book, Flexible Diet Essentials by Phil Hardy a few times, I went to this website:  http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ and put all my numbers in to get my macro limits.  I then added them to my food log app, because tracking your food is half the battle!  Right now I am using my weight loss numbers on days I don’t workout and I am using my maintenance numbers on workouts days, although I don’t hit them exactly due to trying to cut for competition.  After the show, I will get my numbers dialed in a bit better because I want to try and gain some muscle before my next show.

I also switched to a new food log app called Macros+, which I heard of from a blog post on Soheefit.com.  I have used MyFitnessPal for years and switched to Macros+ because I wanted a way to have different macro limits based on whether it was a workout day or not and this one does exactly that.  MyFitnessPal does have that ability too, but it is a premium monthly service.
