Charleston Personal Training Client Gets Back On Track And Loses 38 Pounds

Everyone who has ever worked out and exercised on routine will tell you there are up’s and down’s. Whether it’s stress, increased demands for your time, family or work issues, etc, there will be periods where you feel like you’re just going through the motions.

The secret to success a lot of times is just riding these phases out without completely falling off the wagon. Once you completely give up on exercise, everything else tends to go down hill in a hurry. The first thing you’ll probably do is go back to your old ways of eating.

Yeah, I know you’re shaking your head “yes.” The percentage of people who are on a super clean diet but are not exercising is next to nil. In today’s post I want to share a video with my partner Mandy interviewing Shaping Concepts client, Andrew Clarke, who stuck it out and saw great results on the other side because of it.

Here’s a perfect example of when sometimes you just need to hang on. Andrew did and when things lined themselves up in his life he was ready. He was already working out regularly and had a routine.

Think about what might have happened had he been completely off track and doing no exercise what-so-ever. The opportunity may have well passed him by and he’d still be stuck overweight and in a body he wasn’t happy with.

I’ve got to tell you that I’ve watched Andrew workout and he’s transformed his body with good old fashioned hard work, consistency, and effort. Losing 38 pounds and getting down to a size 36 waist is only the beginning of what he’ accomplished.

Andrew is doing exercises he could never do before, he’s stronger than ever, seems to be having more fun the ever with the workouts, and the list goes on. In the fitness training world we’d say he’s “turned the corner.”  Every personal trainer knows it when he or she sees it in a client.

The individual isn’t dragging themselves in to workout or struggling with excuses about their diet. The can’t wait to get started, feel great about what they’re doing, and how they feel. It’s a change both inside and out by most importantly on the inside.

I’ve got to give some recognition to his personal trainer, Andrew Duffy as well as he’s been instrumental in taking him to the next level as a coach.

The lesson in all of this is that “little and often over the long-haul” is the secret to success. If you’re not in a routine, don’t think you’ll be disciplined all on your own to start one and stick with it. Chances are it won’t happen.

Get yourself a workout partner, fitness coach, or accountability partner in the form of  a spouse or friend to help you. Bottom line is don’t go about it all alone. The Charleston health clubs are filled up with people in January and empty by March for a reason. People try to start new routines with accountability or support.
