Charleston Personal Trainer Shawn McDonald Helps Client See A Body Transformation

Shaping Concept’s Shawn McDonald, a certified Charleston personal trainer was recently recognized for his outstanding work helping a client achieve a body transformation.

Shawn and his client Jason Hightower of Daniel Island, were spotlighted in an interview which is included in this post.

You’ll notice in the video that Jason commented on how everything fell into place once he made the decision to take action. This can’t be emphasized enough as one of the most critical factors in his success and for many others just like him who have come through the doors at Shaping Concepts.

I remember meeting Jason for the first time during his consultation and I had a gut feeling we’d be seeing him in our “Over 20 lb Club.” After a while you sort of get a read on the clients who will be most successful with a body transformation.

He had his mind made up what he wanted to do and seemed to soak up all the recommendations I gave him like a sponge. For Jason the time was right to do something about his health and the commitment was there to do something about it. He took my recommendations and those from Shawn and ran with it.

He didn’t achieve such outstanding results because of experience with weight lifting or any other so called edge or advantage. In fact, if I remember correctly he hadn’t really followed a structured resistance and cardio training program before. It goes to show you that it doesn’t matter how much experience you have with exercise and it’s never too late to start.

You see Jason is no different that a lot of people. He’s busy, has to deal with stress, work, family obligations, and the list goes on. Sure he could have simply joined a gym or bought some home fitness equipment, but he realized that the greatest asset in the beginning would be to get some personal coaching.

It’s hard to put a value on the accountability and direction a good personal trainer can provide you especially when you’re just starting out on a fitness routine. Going it alone can be tough when you don’t have an established habit or know the best exercises and nutrition strategies to follow.

But once you have the right information it’s all about following through. I’m sure if you were to ask Jason he’d tell you there were sacrifices, obstacles, and set-backs. Everybody is going to go through these things. It’s the people who make up their mind to stick with it and see the end goal as being important enough to stay the course.

I want to also make sure to recognize Shawn for his part in helping Jason as there’s no question he’s one of the best personal trainers in Charleston. I consider myself very fortunate to have him in the Shaping Concepts family as he truly cares about the success of each and every client.

Shawn was one of the first trainers at our Mt. Pleasant studio and played a large part in helping to build the business. He’s an excellent coach who goes the extra mile to educate, inspire, and teach his clients. I’ve seen him on several occasions walk a client down to Publix to personally guide them on the best food choices for their diet.
