Maybe you’ve heard of interval training. Maybe you haven’t. Chances are you’ve done interval training it and just didn’t know it.
Have you ever tried to chase a loose dog through an open park? I’ve seen people do this countless times. I recently saw a guy try to take his dog home after Frisbee tossing in a local park.
The dog, which was pretty smart simply wasn’t ready to go. The dog would run away for a few seconds, stop, start again, dart this way and that and then take off for what seemed like a country mile.
Even though his owner looked like he was in pretty good shape, he gave up in less than 5 minutes because he simply wasn’t conditioned to work in that energy system. And as a result, he was doubled over, completely out of breath, and unable to do much of anything.

Short bursts of high intensity exercise, otherwise known as interval training, has once again proven itself to be the ideal exercise for improving fitness and increasing fat loss.
When it comes to the best type of cardio for fat loss I’ve been on record time and again saying that absolutely nothing can come close to the fat burning benefits of high-intensity, short duration, interval training.
When it comes to what cardio exercise produces the best overall benefits high intensity interval training is the undisputed champion in my book. There are numerous fitness trainers today promoting “aerobic exercise” as being the best cardio for “fat burning” but I’m here to tell you that from my experience they’re flat out wrong.
